Point has been selected to project manage a 22 level development consisting of 92 apartments and 1 retail shop in Clarke Street Southbank, near the Crown Casino complex.
The project is scheduled to go to tender in early November 2011,with construction commencing in early February 2012 and completion expected in May 2013.

Future Naval Aviation Combat Systems Project

Point has been engaged by the Department of Defence to deliver the Future Naval Aviation Systems (FNACS) Project. The project is to provide new, expanded and modified facilities and infrastructure at HMAS Albatross, NSW and HMAS Stirling, WA to support the introduction of 24 FNACS aircraft for a minimum twenty year period from 2013.

The scope of works includes the construction of multiple facilities including, HMAS Albatross: Helicopter hangars, Working/Office accommodation, Storage, Synthetic training and Car parking; HMAS Stirling: Helicopter hangars, Working/Office accommodation, Storage, Car parking, Training/Briefing rooms; and up to four Earth Covered Buildings.

The Design Phase is to commence in August 2011, with the Construction Phase programmed to commence in January 2013.

Former ACI Site Demolition

Point has recently been engaged by Museum Victoria to provide project management and sub consultant services associated with the hazardous materials removal and demolition of the Former ACI Glass Factory in Spotswood.

This project is the first stage of redeveloping the site to accommodate additional car parking for the adjacent Scienceworks Museum and to provide consolidated storage facilities for the various museums that come under Museum Victoria to store their non-exhibited collection.

A key risk issue for Museum Victoria is the undertaking of the hazardous materials removal work in close proximity to the Scienceworks Museum and our approach to addressing this issue and the broader stakeholder management in our tender proposal was a key reason for Point securing this commission.

Qantas A380 Parking and Maintenance Bays Project

Point has been engaged by Qantas to manage the construction of three new line maintenance bays at the Sydney Jet Base.

The project involves the relocation of various operational workshops from two existing buildings which are to be demolished. The relocations will require the refurbishment of existing and new facilities and the demolition of the workshops will accommodate the new maintenance bays. This extension to the Jet Base is required to address the aircraft fleet growth planned by Qantas.

The construction works include new Code F (i.e. A380) capable hardstand, wash bays, waste water tanks, control valves & bunding, retaining walls & anti ram/climb fencing, car parking & modifications to existing roads, apron lighting, new security huts & gatehouse, purpose built engineering offices and a number of 400Hz ground power units.

Qantas Wide Body Maintenance Bay Project

Point has been engaged by Qantas to manage the construction of a Wide Body Maintenance Bay at the Sydney Jet Base.

This project involves the construction of a Code E capable hardstand. The hardstand will incorporate an aircraft wash bay, and 400Hz ground power units.

Qantas Hangar 245 Refurbishment

Point has been engaged by Qantas to manage the refurbishment of Hangar 245 at the Sydney Jet Base.

The hangar is being refurbished to accommodate line maintenance for a variety of aircraft types, ranging from B747 to A320. Works involve the demolition of existing heavy maintenance docking, construction of new docking, and installation of engineering services including 400 Hz ground power units, mass flow and compressed air reticulation, and high and low level lighting.

Defence Multi User Depot Project

Point has been engaged by the Department of Defence for the provision of Project Management and Contract Administration Delivery Services for the MUD and CTA Project RAAF Base Amberley.

Given the available Commonwealth Land at RAAF Base Amberley, it has been the subject of expansion with new Army Units being based in this location. Additionally, the base has recently upgraded incorporating new HQ buildings, Medical facilities, Gymnasium and Living In Accomodation.

In addition to these facilities, new government initiatives for Air Force Cadets, Gap Year students and the lack of suitable facilities for the reserve 23 Squadron, have seen the requirement for a multi user depot emerge.

Airservices Australia Shade Sails Project

Point has been involved in the development of the project brief and tender evaluations for both the Melbourne and Brisbane projects. With involvement in contract award and superintending construction to the Melbourne site.

Moorebank Units Relocation Project

Point has been engaged by the Department of Defence to deliver the Moorebank Units Relocation Project. The project is to facilitate the redevelopment of the Moorebank site for Infrastructure Australia, as an Inter-Modal Freight Terminal (IMT). As a result, the School of Military Engineering (SME) and other units at Moorebank are required to be relocated to Holsworthy Barracks to provide for the IMT.

The scope of works includes the relocation of multiple facilities including: The SME, the Land Warfare Centre, the Army Logistics Training Centre, SME multi-denominational chapel, the Area Library, and the Army History Unit/RAE Museum.

The project has a complex network of stakeholders and involves close community consultation. Project delivery requires close synchronisation with a number of interlinking major projects such as: the IMT project, the Defence Logistics Project, Holsworthy Redevelopment Stage 2, and the re-location of 3 RAR and 17 Construction Squadron. Key to the complexity of the project is the requirement for the SME to remain functional throughout the relocation.

The project will utilise the Managing Contractor form of delivery. The Design Phase is to commence in May 2011, with the Construction Phase programmed to commence in July 2012.

The Jamieson Project

The Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn (ADCG) is undertaking a development on Block 9, Section 33, Constitution Avenue.

The ADCG is seeking to replace Jamieson House with an 8 Level residential apartment-style accommodation development, known as The Jamieson.

Point has been engaged by the ADCG as the client side project managers for this development.

The development will be the first of its kind along Constitution Avenue and will include 91 quality modern style apartments, a small commercial area on the ground and is expected to achieve a minimum 5 star green star rating.

Constitution Avenue is central to the implementation of The Griffin Legacy and the NCA’s intention for Constitution Avenue is for it to become a vibrant grand boulevard linking London Circuit to Russell along the lake.

The Jamieson will provide the another step for ‘the legacy’ to be realised.
